Hassani CampbellCourt documents released Thursday indicate the foster father of missing 5-year-old Hassani Campbell sent a text message just days before the boy disappeared, threatening to the leave him alone at the Bay Area Rapid Transit station.
KTVU reports that the text message was found on Louis Ross’ phone during a search by law enforcement of the family home. The text message was sent from Ross to Hassani’s aunt, Jennifer Campbell and said, “This is [expletive] over. I will watch [Hassani’s sister] but he will be on the BART…”
Officers also said that Ross, 38, had concerns about caring for a developmentally disabled child.
Authorities also confirmed to KTVU that Ross failed an FBI polygraph test he was administered on Aug. 13. To see video of Ross on Nancy Grace, click here.
On Aug. 10, the day Hassani disappeared, Ross claims he left Hassani standing outside his BMW for two to five minutes. He went to open the front door of the store where the boy’s aunt, Jennifer Campbell, 33, works to ask her to open the back door so Hassani could enter with ease. Hassani suffers from cerebral palsy, and wears small white braces on his ankles.
Reports also indicate that on morning of Aug. 10, two employees at an auto salvage yard in Hayward, Calif. saw Hassani and Ross in the BMW.
The day before Ross was given the lie detector test the home where Hassani, his younger sister, and aunt live with Ross was searched. According to the warrant, police searched for a sword of cutting instrument and biological evidence related to Hassani.
Items taken during the search include four fingerprints taken from Ross’ car, one pair of latex gloves, and eight DNA swabs.
According to Jeff Thomason with the Oakland Police, Hassani’s disappearance is being treated as a missing person’s case, but as time passes, the chances of finding him alive get slimmer. Thomason noted there is no evidence a crime has been committed.
Hassani is African American with brown hair and brown eyes and was wearing a gray sweatshirt and gray pants when he was last seen. Anyone with information about Hassani should call the Oakland Police Department at 510-238-3641 or Crime Stoppers at 510-777-8572 or 510-777-3211. There is a $10,000 reward for information leading to Hassani’s whereabouts.
